Admittedly she is neither Rock nor Pop, but an enchanting blend of World and Folk music. But She is also, hands down my favorite artist, as I find the originality of her synthesis of traditional Celtic, Irish Folk, Eastern European and Middle Eastern instruments, melodies, timings and aesthetics to be positively mesmerizing. Despite being an unrepentant Metalhead, if I was stranded on a desert island, and only allowed on album that I could somehow magically play (the eternal Ipod or whatever, lol), her album "The Book of Secrets" would be it. San Fran never gets below about 45 degrees in the Winter, or above 75 degrees in the summer. Both have their unique appeal and charm though, TBH. Edit 3- Oh yeah ,good food in NY. Same in SF though. Best sourdough in the world, no exaggeration, better seafood, and the Fishermans Wharf is amazing. Plus I would say for ethnic food, the two cities are totally neck to neck. I do actually mildly prefer San Fran pizza though, just because they are a whole lot less snotty about what you can put on it, and I LOVE making wild and crazy pizzas. (Shop in NY I thought was gonna shoot me for asking if they could put some smoked salmon on a pizza.) @Sugaree, amen brother, amen... man I miss Haight and Ashbury. It's been far too long....
