Funk/R&B A cappella? (sebastopol)

Want to start a vocal group............I am open to any un orthodox ideas........hoping for guys under 50, I am a young 37.........I've been in a rock band before but singing is my main love and instruments can be a distraction but I have a potential rhythm section(drums and Bass) . I would love to do material with a heavier message like Curtis Mayfield, Sly Stone and Stevie Wonder, Parliafunkadelic etc.......But I also love cheesy 80's R&B and Sappy Motown(Sam Cook, Drifters) This is obviously for fun but I will take it as seriously as the group depicts...............let me know your story, thanks..... it's NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests ...
